Ep 78: Faith in Action - Divine Provision and the Mission of Love in Uganda (Part 2)
"Today we are continuing our conversation with Pastor Isaac Wabomba, from House of Love Fellowship in Uganda, where Christ is proclaimed and the Love of God is shared!"
What if your faith and obedience are the key to unlocking divine support and success? In our latest episode of Plays On Word Radio, Pastor Teddy, also known as Fred David Kenney Jr., and Katie Kenney talk with Pastor Isaac Wabomba to explore the profound connection between living by faith and trusting in God's plan for our future. Pastor Isaac shares personal testimonies of experiencing God's provision during life's toughest challenges, emphasizing the essential role of discerning the Holy Spirit's voice, a guiding light that reassures us, and the importance of pruning and reliance on Scripture.
Quick actions taken in faith often lead to God's provision and the fulfillment of His plans. Pastors Teddy & Isaac illuminate this truth with biblical examples, like Philip's mission to Gaza, showing how obedience can lead to extraordinary outcomes. The discussion shifts to the necessity of daily spiritual preparedness, akin to putting on armor and maintaining faith even when conditions aren't perfect. Through a blend of personal stories and biblical narratives, we uncover the transformative power of faith in action and how it channels divine support in one's mission.
The House of Love ministry in Uganda takes center stage as we discuss its impactful mission of serving through divine love. This episode highlights Isaac's holistic approach, from vibrant children's programs to essential medical outreach and the nurturing of the spiritual and physical needs of our community. We also shed light on the critical work being done to improve maternal healthcare access in remote areas. By fostering a fellowship of professionals and aspiring leaders, we are committed to addressing our community's needs and preparing the next generation to carry forward this crucial work. Join us for an episode filled with inspiration and actionable insights on living by faith and serving with love.

Lord, you know. Hey guys, you are now listening to Plays On Word Radio. You are welcome. I live each day by faith. Live each day by faith. Yes, you just don't know what's coming that day. So that's why he says he knows our tomorrow, he will do something, our tomorrow is in his hand. All right, he holds the future fine. But I live each day by faith, because I can't define it. I can't define it, I can't define it. It's the Lord who defines it. So today is by faith and tomorrow the same. I cannot say. I'm very sure all this is going to be this way each day, each hour, each minute. You're the only name, you're the only name.
Speaker 2:You're the only name.
Speaker 3:Hello and welcome to Plays on Word Radio, where we discuss, analyze, work and play on the Word of God. Thank you for joining us on this excursion. Today let's join Pastor Teddy, also known as Fred David Kenny Jr, the founder of Plays on Word Theater, as he does a deep dive into the Word of God.
Speaker 2:Everything that's got to happen. The day's got enough to worry about man Exactly, and if we focus just on, I mean, I thank God. Every morning, I thank him, thank you for today, lord, help me to be faithful today, exactly, and if I make it to tomorrow, then we'll talk about tomorrow.
Speaker 1:Oh sure, we'll talk about tomorrow. You know, today's today, yeah.
Speaker 2:And it's I like how you said it was the best decision. Looking back, you can see God's faithfulness in your life. When you look back, even when at the time it might have been like, oh, I don't know what's going on here, but you can look back and say, oh, he was there with me, guiding, even when I wasn't there, he was invested and involved, right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, the funny bit is that during that time of trial and challenge, you know many voices speak, many voices come your way and they keep telling you this and that Of course friends will come and try to help Me too. I was tried by many people. You know, come I'll help you do this, come I'll help you do this. But all these people ended up, you know they were just taking advantage of you. They take advantage of me. You know. Someone thinks, oh, they're going to help you. Others are looking for their own benefits.
Speaker 1:I went through all that. I have experienced so many things in that time. But the most simple thing I've learned is listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit, because that is what makes you realize that the other voices are wrong. And then getting the word. Because you know how do you tell the voice of the Holy Spirit? Of course it has to align with Scripture, so if it's not aligning with the word, then it's wrong.
Speaker 1:So there are many voices that came at that time. There were many reasons. People tell you do this. Another one tells you something is wrong. But you know why you are there, because I knew why all this was happening and the Lord told me you know, I have to redefine your life. Redefinition is not easy Because God has to get all the things away from you. He doesn't just sell, you know, carry you with everything. No, redefinition always comes with pruning. The Lord says you know, cut off this, cut off this. And you may try to be wise to keep some things, but the Lord will tell you what. I'll get rid of those things.
Speaker 3:That's it In his own way, yeah, I remember I threw away my wallet.
Speaker 1:I never had my wallet for almost four years. I never had my wallet. I never had. I didn't know even where it was because I never had money, so I could not know where my wallet was. I just lived and people provided food for us. People provided everything that I would need. Some. There's a lady who bought food for us for three months and every Saturday she would just ride the motorbike bring food, bring food, bring food. And God touched people. Someone paid my house for six months and I never asked for that. People would just come in and do things.
Speaker 1:And that's when I began to realize that when you do what the kingdom wants, then the kingdom takes care of you, because we belong to the king, and so the kingdom takes care of you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, because we belong to the king. We belong to the king, right, and so the kingdom has what it takes for us. So we don't represent any other kingdom here, right. We represent the kingdom of heaven. We wave the heavenly flag, and that flag doesn't just come alone. We are ambassadors of Christ, as he says, and so an ambassador is catered for, so God catered for us. There will be storms, but the Lord, god will cater for us. So you listen to the voice of the Spirit and then stick to that. You avoid all other voices and you're just good to go. And that was one of the things.
Speaker 2:I like how you said that.
Speaker 4:No, I was just thinking about what we were talking about last night, about when you hear all of these different opinions from people and such, and I had recalled something. It went basically like this when you're hearing the voice of God and the voice of the Holy Spirit, remember, and especially when it concerns your calling and your ministry, remember it wasn't a conference call, all these other people weren't on the line.
Speaker 4:It was a straight direct line to the Holy Spirit, to God and all these other people weren't involved and I just love that. I think I saw it on a Facebook post.
Speaker 2:Often you'll get well-meaning people that are Christians, well-meaning but they're throwing in their two cents and it's not anointed by God and it hasn't been. They're not being directed by God, they're coming from flesh and other places to give you counsel. Sometimes I've noticed some people that are believers sometimes will chime in with and you get all these different angles, different opinions and everything. The one I want to hear is okay, lord, what are you saying to me?
Speaker 2:And I like what you said because, using the Word of God, I have often preached this the Word of God is the courtroom. Yes, and if the voice that you're getting, or the call that you feel like you're getting, if it contradicts the word of God, then you know it's not of God.
Speaker 1:It's not of God, because he will not contradict himself. No, god will never do that.
Speaker 2:So unfortunately, there are some people that will hold to that and act like you know the word of God Well, god told me this. I hold to that and act like you know the Word of God. Well, god told me this. I know it disagrees with what the Word says but, God told me you need to double check that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you are forcing God to speak, right yeah, we don't force God to speak while he does not speak, right yeah, what were you going to?
Speaker 4:say you know, that's why we have to be in tune with Him. You know daily, every moment, because there are times when people have come to us with some advice and you know, this is why we have to take everything to the Lord, because there have been times where it's like, ok, maybe that's a good point. You know, I was thinking I was going on this direction, but we give it to him. And when we hear his voice clearly we know. Whatever that answer comes back as OK yeah, this is the way you should go.
Speaker 1:And we have peace with it. That's it.
Speaker 2:That's it, that's it Having the peace of God.
Speaker 1:Yes, Having the peace of God, and these voices will speak, even the believers who just listen to also wrong voices, and they will just want to tell you that Right.
Speaker 2:And you know, other than just making their wires go off? Yeah, that's an inside joke.
Speaker 1:Other than just making them feel like what they are speaking doesn't make sense to you.
Speaker 1:Of course you'll politely say, okay, I appreciate your contribution, let me pray about it and you just look at it and you just get to see okay, what is the right thing here?
Speaker 1:God, you know the right thing, because always, when someone is going through a hard situation, I God, you know the right thing, because always when someone is going through a hard situation, I always have two options If it's not from God, then it's from the devil, and if the devil wants you to fail and you know you are right with God, then God will make it work. God will make it work Exactly Because it's not anything, and if it's God's way for you to go and you know very well in your heart it is it came when you are sensing. You know there are things which come and you know, for instance, personally, I know many times when things are going to happen and I'll say now, god, this is coming, my heart is ready, I'm ready for it and I'm going to go through it, and the Lord will just strengthen you. There are things. God will strengthen you to go through them, not everything the Lord is going to take away and you just jump over them.
Speaker 2:He takes you through.
Speaker 1:No no, no, he takes you through, and this is where most Christians get it wrong. They just want you know bypass.
Speaker 1:Get me out of this, lord, yes, want you know, bypass, get me out of this, lord. Yes, god wants us to go through these things and that's why, when Christ said, not my will, but your will be done, he was strengthened to go through this. I always said Christ had the power to strike all those guys blind. He had the power to turn into a tree if he wanted, so that these guys would not see him. But God did not want that. So sometimes, when we think we can dodge certain situations, as long as you know you are right in Scripture, you are right with God, you're just walking the right way according to Scripture and things come your way, believe me, you just know there is a way out and that's the only way to go. You are just going to be glorified and the Father will just glorify himself through your life, and that's it, that's it, you know.
Speaker 4:That speaks to me too, because you know when you like, you said when you know something is coming. But I like that part where you said you proclaim it, my heart is ready for it.
Speaker 1:It's ready.
Speaker 4:Yes, to proclaim it. You know, kind of a wordless prayer like, I am ready, like, and that's. That's what is that like putting on our armor every single day. Exactly we need to get up and do that put the armor on and be like I am ready.
Speaker 1:I'm ready.
Speaker 2:I love that. That spoke to my heart too. Yes, I'm ready so you, um, you said something in the sermon the other day. Um well, when I'm paraphrasing, but when God speaks to you, you want to act, you want to move quickly, or you?
Speaker 3:want to move.
Speaker 1:Yes, you move.
Speaker 2:You don't sit there and just move action. Yes, and that's what that reminded me of what you were just talking about.
Speaker 1:Yeah, normally I say that because you know some people when God speaks, they tend to wait for certain things to come.
Speaker 2:And let me get more confirmation.
Speaker 1:Not even confirmation. But then like, okay, let's say it's a mission. God says you know, get up, go to California, go preach, right.
Speaker 4:And then you're like, okay, or North Carolina, or North Carolina right.
Speaker 1:I need to first, you know, get a nice house. I need to be sure that you know, okay, the weather will be fine.
Speaker 2:I need a new car.
Speaker 1:I need to be sure that I have a nice car. Those are some of the things we begin to think about how do I really, you know, just go like that, but God is saying get on the way. When you get going, that's already the sign that you have obeyed. Now, as you move, the Lord knows what you want. The Lord can't send you on a mission without having knowledge of what you want he knows what you need.
Speaker 1:He knows what you want. He'll give you those things, but he wants to see you move. So the faith you have to move on your journey, on your calling, is what unlocks those things the Lord has for you to fulfill the mission. So you get moving before he does. Abraham did not wait, abraham did not ask. But God, tell me exactly how much is the land that you are going to give me? You know, first, be sure, give me the demarcations. You know, I don't want to get lost on the way. You know, god, now, when I reach there, who are the people I'm going to meet, who are my neighbors? You know, these are the things we go do. Map work.
Speaker 2:Yes, right right, right right.
Speaker 1:It's important, though, in the modern world today because of secular reasons, but there are things that you may go deep into and you fail the mission Just because you are taking care of those things.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I Not hold your thought. I reminded me. We just at Calvary, southport, we just finished chapter eight of the book of Acts a couple weeks ago. And Philip, he was told to go down to Gaza, a desert place, and and that's all he got. He didn't get a lot of information. The Lord just said get up and go. And it was right. In the middle of a revival of the Samaritans were all being revived and they were coming to Christ and it was a big deal Like multitudes were being saved. And in the middle of that the Lord says I want you to go to the desert.
Speaker 2:And Philip didn't argue, he was obedient to that little. He didn't get any more information. That one step, take that one step. And then, once he took that step, then the Lord spoke to him, said you see that caravan over there. I want you to go up to that caravan and speak to the man. And so Philip ended up coming up alongside the caravan and he hears this guy reading from the book of Isaiah. And the Lord told him to speak to that man. And he did, and that man got saved, that Ethiopian eunuch, he got saved. But God didn't tell him back early on. Oh, you know Ethiopia is going to come to Christ and there's going to be a church that's even there to this day. Yes, he didn't say that. He didn't give him all the details.
Speaker 4:He just said go, go, fill a point, and I don't know who coined that phrase we walk by faith, we don't sit by faith.
Speaker 3:I don't know. That came up a while ago. It's like right, we walk by faith.
Speaker 4:We don't by faith. Yes, you know, we have definitely in our lives, in our ministry. When we've gone forward and I have prayed the prayer like all right, we're going boldly lord um, if this is not right, slam the door or, or, you know, divert the path. Show us the right way and again, if you're in tune with the lord, then you can walk boldly right that's it.
Speaker 1:The boldness is all about what you understand and who God is. And you know God, you know what he can do. That's the confidence, because we know God is never defeated. And these are the things that make us, you know, as ministers, to be bold, because we see people fail. We, as humans, we can fail in many ways, but one thing we know is that God never fails. Because he never fails, he never diverts from the truth, he is.
Speaker 1:He is always up to His work that he wants to be done. This universe has been there for generations and he wants things done His way, so we can do things our way, and so our faith is to focus and uphold that truth. So the Lord will always lead us into those small things. I always tell people back home that when God brings across your I mean something across your eyes, maybe someone is in need okay, let's say someone is in need and your eyes happen to see that person, there should be a reason why God made you see that. So when you see that person, there is a voice that speaks to you. Every time you see that person, there is a voice that will speak to you. And then what do you do? So don't postpone. If it is in your means to help, If it's within your means to help, do it. If you don't do it, another person will do it.
Speaker 2:God will get somebody else to do it Exactly, but you miss out, you miss out.
Speaker 1:That's what I tell them. You miss out. So utilize the opportunities you have, Every opportunity that comes your way. If it's a chance that God has given you to do something and it is within your means to do it, you can do it. At that time, Do it Because it's the Please do.
Speaker 2:What if somebody said yeah, but pastor, I'm not a pastor, I didn't go to school, I don't know the Bible, I don't know how God could use me. You know, I don't know if he could use me. What would you say to them?
Speaker 1:Yeah, if God can use me. You have not been to school, but God has not said I need those who have been to school. All you do is, if you can hear, we teach the word so you can hear. Fine, you can hear the word, you can understand the word. The most important thing in scripture, I mean in life of Christianity, is being able to hear and follow the instructions. Yes, obedience, it is not about being able to go to school and read Right, it's being able to hear and follow instructions and follow instructions.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he's looking for people that are faithful that are going to.
Speaker 2:they're going to do what he says, Not me. He's not looking for people with degrees.
Speaker 1:You hear and follow. Follow, because don't tell me I don't know how to read. Fine, you don't know how to read, but we can tell you what to do yeah, yeah, yeah and you must trust that what we are saying is right and then do just that. And you can't do everything at a go. Begin one at a go. You begin doing one and to do another, and then to the other, and to the other, and to the other. So it's about hearing, hearing by the Word of God, that's it.
Speaker 1:It's not by reading, it is reading and reading the Word of God. It's by hearing. That's the faith.
Speaker 4:No, I was just looking at 2 Corinthians, 5, 7, for we walk by faith not by sight, not by sight. Yes, not by sight, but you know what I'd also say if somebody posed that question. Take a look at the 12 disciples right.
Speaker 2:The 12 apostles.
Speaker 4:Like that was a motley crew.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we were talking about that yesterday the 12 apostles like that was a motley crew.
Speaker 4:They were fishermen and I'm sure not all the most educated, well learned people it even says in the book of Acts that they were not educated men.
Speaker 2:They noticed that, they took note that these were common men, uneducated common men, but they had been with Jesus. And that's the difference. That's the difference uneducated common men, but they had been with Jesus. And that's the difference. That's the difference, because being with him there, if you're with him, you can hear his voice. And that's what you're saying Hear his voice and do what he says. That's it.
Speaker 1:That's it. And these guys knew people who are with Jesus do different things. That's why they say that. So they realized that the crippled man had been healed at the beautiful gate and so he's jumping and the good thing that man was right there standing with them and that was the most beautiful thing. So they could not have any reason, because they even say the crowd was watching. The crowd was in it, so they feared to punish them because the crowd would come Because the crowd knew it was an amazing thing.
Speaker 2:Exactly.
Speaker 1:They were supporting them. So you know, there's a moment when the devil just lacks reason and he won't just do anything. So they had no reason to punish these guys, but the only thing they would identify okay, they were not educated, but all they realized they were with Jesus, and that acknowledgement should have been the reason for them to say, okay, you people you go. But you see, they became adamant and even told them don't talk about the gospel anymore. This was wrong. Instead it just exploded.
Speaker 2:The word of God is unstoppable yeah, unstoppable, you can't stop it. And the arrogance of men that have tried to in the past to eradicate or wipe out the word of God.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah.
Speaker 2:And Satan's behind them. You know, it's easy to blame the man? Yeah, of course, but at the same time, yes, it's an evil person, but Satan is behind them and taunting them to you. Can you know the voices? Yeah, the voices, the voices.
Speaker 1:There's always a voice of the devil that rises in every man's heart. Yeah, and to just tell you, do something good, because the people, the things you call ideas, yeah, all the things you call ideas. You know, someone came up and did this.
Speaker 1:They're voices yeah, do you think you call ideas? You know someone came up and did this. Their voices, yeah right. The voice will just speak and say when you come up with a gadget like this, it can help people and someone will make it. It will be a good gadget. Maybe it can help people do. But so out of that, there are thousands of voices that just speak to people and that's why they do what they do. Yeah, someone can just say, no, I don't want anybody in my life, and that voice sticks in them, so they don't care to know whether it's the right voice or not, because they don't have scripture.
Speaker 2:Right, they're not measuring it against scripture.
Speaker 1:No because they're not Christian, maybe? So for them they know what they're doing is right, they're protecting themselves, they know they're safe, but actually the voice is wrong.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and that's the majority of the world, unfortunately.
Speaker 1:Yes, they're following the voice of the ruler of this world right now, any voice that comes.
Speaker 2:Let's talk about the House of Love, fellowship, fellowship, yeah, give us the full name and tell us about this place I want to say this magical place, but this just fantastic fellowship that is growing in Uganda, and tell us a little bit about this.
Speaker 1:All right, so our ministry is Calvary Road, saints Fellowship.
Speaker 2:Calvary Road, saints Fellowship.
Speaker 1:Yes, that's our fully registered ministry back home in Uganda. Yes, that's our fully registered ministry back home in Uganda, and the Lord has blessed us with a beautiful church, which is House of Love Fellowship, where we come together as saints of God to glorify, to worship and just give God all the glory all the time, and that's all we do. So that's what the Lord has been able to birth. I think it's now two and a half years down the road, because we began as a fellowship in the house. Eventually we moved from the house to a sanctuary and that's where we are now, down the road.
Speaker 1:We bless the Lord for what he's doing back home, because he has given us a platform to be able to serve his people. Like I always tell my people back home is we come together to serve the people and that's what the calling of the Lord is that we who have the light come together and serve those who don't see the light and so help them to see the light. And basically, house of Love is to develop and grow that divine love in people. It's not just love of the mouth, it's not just love by words. It's divine love practically expressed to people. But it must be divine. It is not just the physical love that people just go love. It must be defined through Scripture, and so we do that. Then, on top of that, of course, teaching the Word verse by verse, chapter by chapter, so that people get the complete food.
Speaker 2:Yes, the full counsel of God.
Speaker 1:The full counsel of God. So that's what we do, and so it's a beautiful thing. In this community where we are right now, people do not know about this so much, and so when we came in, we said we have just come to serve you people and feed you the word of God. And it has been all these months, all these years now, and it's all beautiful. The Lord has blessed us with a good congregation, good members who are knowledgeable people. We have teachers, we have bankers, we have doctors, we have nurses, and all these people are just together to serve the Lord, and so we come together as a fellowship, we put our fellowship together and then serve the people.
Speaker 1:So one of the things we are doing is, you know, kids ministry, which is really very, very vibrant. Back home every Saturday, bring these kids together, just putting them in groups and teaching them the word of God, feeding them, playing with them for like three, four hours a day. They go back home and doing a great Sunday school with kids. It has been very, very amazing. And you know, churches back in Uganda do not take kids very seriously. I've seen a few churches do that, but the majority they care about adults and see children are the future church.
Speaker 2:So we talked about that. That's amazing to me.
Speaker 1:In five, 10 years, they're going to be the adults A child who is 15, who is 10, in 10 years is a man or a woman, and so if we don't groom them to become better people, then the generation is lost. So we are in a community where people are into drunkenness, where people just live their own lives. Some have never been to church. They even don't care about church. We have religiousness there which is Catholic theme and Anglicanism also taking root there. So all these have held people back from seeing salvation. But now, through the children, when they come, they go tell us stories to their parents and the things we do and, believe me, these stories have touched many parents who now come to church and they give us stories. You know, my girl has been telling me these things. My son keeps coming back and tells me about this church.
Speaker 2:So you're ministering to the children and the children go and minister to the parents and get the parents Exactly.
Speaker 1:So some of the parents we have today, like I would say we have now like six parents in church, yeah, and all these have come because of the children. Amen, children go tell them stories. They go tell them what we do and, of course, when we do other things, like medical outreaches in the community, people get to see what we are doing because we just put money together, we buy medicine, we bring the doctors on ground and they treat people. They treat children, they treat women, and we are giving them all this free. We give out clothing. People donate clothes to us and then we gather these clothes, we give them to the people and we do that without segregating against, you know, a Catholic or against Anglican.
Speaker 1:No, we are helping those in need. I always say this that we help people because they need help, not because they are our friends, not because they need help, not because they are our friends, not because they love us, not because they are our relatives, not because they will give back to us. No, we help someone Because they need help, because they need help, whether that person takes you as their enemy. At that moment, when they need, all they need is help. So you give them help and that's what I tell my team, and my team knows that if they ever segregate a person, that is not biblical right right, right right that's not biblical.
Speaker 1:We are supposed to treat people free as they come. Of course we have. You have to be careful not to give to those who don't make good use of it. We have that wisdom too, but we must treat everyone the way we know their need is. As much as we are able to help, we help people. So that's what we are doing Medical ministry, children's ministry, we are doing women's ministry, we are doing men's ministry, we are doing the youth camps. In fact, those are the things. I want you guys to come down and be doing.
Speaker 1:We're going to come do some plays, yeah come do plays, do camps for one week everything boom, boom, boom, boom, and then games and all these things. We just want to do that. We have a great team of young people. We are bringing up in Christ, who we want to, who are looking at as a future church because they're future leaders.
Speaker 2:Right, that's smart.
Speaker 1:Yeah, my preparation for the teens, because I take time to teach them myself. Most of the time my emphasis to them is you are the leaders of this church. I'm not talking about members of the church, I'm talking about the leaders of the church. So I take all of them, whether they are 20 or 50. I say you are the leaders, but of course out of the 50, you know you'll get maybe a few or three. So you point to them and of course you give them assignments and you get to see how they do that. And that of course gives you ideas on who can do this and who can do the other. But they are committed young men, like the bricks we used to make our church. It's our teenagers who made them.
Speaker 2:Oh, is that right? So they, when they built their sanctuary, they built everything on site, including the bricks, and that totally blew my mind. I don't know if we can, but if we can put some photos up so you guys can see, tell us about the needs of the fellowship. But if somebody's listening to this and they want to help out somehow or they want to be involved in the work of God, maybe the Lord is speaking to them, to their heart, right now.
Speaker 1:Yeah. So in addition to the medical ministry, apart from just giving medication to the children and expecting mothers, we are trying to do something more than that, to try to see how we can solve the problem of distance for expecting mothers who, in health centers which are built by government. Maybe, if they are distant from those health centers some of them, of course they just can't come. They are 10 miles or 15 miles away in villages. They just can't make it. Some are in hard to reach areas whereby you know ordinary vehicles can't go there, so you need a strong four wheel drive car to get there. Some, literally, have grown up believing. You know, my mother gave birth to me in the banana plantation, so even me, I would just give birth from home. I had an aunt who gave birth to around nine kids, but she gave birth to kids from home.
Speaker 2:Wow, well, amen. Thank you very much, isaac Wabamba, my brother. We continue this interview for a long time. It keeps going, you guys. So you can check it out in the show notes, the Overflow link, there's a link that will take you to this Until we get together again. The Lord bless you and keep you.
